music musings
So, as I was driving to class, I started to think about music and artists and favourite CDs and whatnot. It started when I put on Mechanical Animals, which is by far, my favourite Marilyn Manson album. Most Manson fans believe that post-AC Superstar albums are crap. However, I reason it as Mechanical Animals being the CD that I first bought of Manson's. It was the CD that got me liking Manson. So I started to think about other artists and whether that was true with them.
Okay.
First album I bought of U2's was Achtung Baby. By far, my favourite U2 album.
First album of David Bowie's that I bought was Outside. People can't stand this album. I adore it without shame. Definitely my favourite Bowie album.
First album of REM's was Automatic for the People. Again, still my favourite album by REM.
First Nine Inch Nail's album was Broken. Favourite? Yup.
First Ben Folds Five album was Reinhold Messner. It's my favourite BFF album.
First Tori Amos album was Under the Pink. Favourite Tori album = Under the Pink.
First Backstreet Boys album = Millenium. Favourite Backstreet Boys album = Millenium.
First Prodigy album = Fat of the Land. Favourite Prodigy album = Fat of the Land.
First Tom Waits album = Mule Variation. Favourite Tom Waits album = Mule Variations.
First Radiohead album = Ok. Computer. Favourite Radiohead album = Ok. Computer.
I could go on and on with this. I'm actually surprised at how many of the albums that got me interested in artists are my favourite albums by said artists. Am I weird? Or do other people find this to be the case as well?
I wouldn't be surprised if it's just me, cause well, I'm weird. But you know, it got me thinking and all. And since I have an exam in oh, 25 minutes, I'm thinking I should stop thinking about this and go take my exam. Um. Yay?
Eminem and Nsync seem to be the most noticable exceptions. First Nsync album was the Eponymous album. Favourite is NSA. First Eminem album was The Marshall Mathers LP. Favourite is the Eminem Show.
