yuletide recs - from the end to the beginning...
The Wire: Us: Four Moments in Time. Oh Avon and Stringer. Nothing makes me happier than them.
Come Correct. Also Avon and Stringer, but back in the day. I love this glimpse into their past.
Wilby Wonderful: The Epiphanies of Dan Jarvis. I really love Dan. And this is a wonderful look at Dan.
Venture Brothers: Friends Don't Let Friends Eulogize Drunk Great voices for Rusty Venture and White. Not as zany as the series, but still very much in tone.
The Tick: The Importance of Bearing Cocoa There will never be enough Tick fic in the world. It's so wonderful and zany and fun and this one is no exception.
Strangers With Candy: Eight Mistakes Jerri Has Made Out Of (Final Tally Still Pending). This is a wonderful Jerri voice. It feels very true to the series to me.
The Sopranos: The World to Come. Excellent Carmela voice. I love the tie in to Memoirs of a Geisha.
Slings and Arrows: No King of England Geoffrey and Darren in University. Plus Henry V which is my favorite Shakespeare play. What? I'm weird.
Outrageous Fortune. Oh Jack and Kate. So overlooked for the much more flambouyant Geoffrey. But still. This is how their story goes. And if feels plucked right out of canon.
The Simpsons: Five Things Maggie Simpson Never Said. These are great little bits of stories, but it's the first one that gets me. Really just. Yeah.
Green-Eyed Homer. Oh. This is Homer and Lisa at their best.
Shaun of the Dead: Victory from Defeat. Shaun, Liz and Ed-post movie. Gah, so funny!
RPS: Stargate Atlantis: House Rules Joe/Jason. Yeah. this is hot. *g* I'm shallow like that.
Self-Reflection's for Pussies and David Hewlett Joe/Torri. Yes, this is technically sort of het. This is *good*. It's all Joe and his observations. It's just really good.
RPS: Canadian Actors: Absolutely Faithless, Particularly Shameless. Callum and Molly and just a smidge of Hugh. Hot and comfortable at the same time.
Psych: Yes, Shawn, There is a Santa Claus. Gus taking care of Shawn even way back in the day.
Conflict Resolution Shawn and Lassiter and why Shawn annoys Lassiter oh so much.
Northern Exposure: Dostoevsky Was an Epileptic. Chris is one of the most interesting characters and this is just pure, pure Chris. Plus wonderful little glimpses of the others.
Murphy Brown: but liquor is quicker. Murphy on her way up - and her way down.
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou: Zissou and the Unnamed Creature of the Sea. Late at night, Jane wakes up and finds Zissou ready to dive into the ocean.
Hot Shots (film): Hot Shots Part Deus: God Strikes Back!. Dude, it's the film. Just as silly and crazy.
Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle: Screenwriter's Blues. You are Neil Patrick Harris.
Hard Core Logo: fuck the gossip mill, fuck the fancy suits. Billy. Just. Yeah. Billy. And the structure of this rocks.
Saskatoon Joe and Billy. Now and then.
Futurama: What a Party That Was This wasn't an episode? Are you sure? Because it sure feels like it was albiet one that's a sequel to another one. So, so good.
Egyptian Mythology: Tales in the Sand Ooh. Egyptian mythology slash. Set/Ash, Anubis/? Seriously though, a great little story about telling stories.
Deadwood: My hands remember hers. Jane and Joanie. Jane ruminating on December 23rd.
not yet past mending. Who deserves Deadwood's true respects? Alma learns what it means to be a widow again.
The Colbert Report: The WØRD. Seriously. Omfg. This is incredible! Just read it!
Askewniverse: Second Verse, Not Exactly the Same as the First. The day after Clerks. Dante's not even supposed to be here today either!
Arrested Development: Have Yourself a Very Bluth Christmas Omg this is so good. It's an episode! Spot on completely. Hearts it so!
