Thanksgiving Day in my family is all about the holding pattern. We don't have Thanksgiving at my house anymore because my aunt has to do it herself. She likes us there hours before hand to watch her cook so we feel guilty about her doing all the cooking even though she won't let us do it anyway. It's a long story. It's a Jewish thing, I think. But yes. The holding pattern. We're waiting for my father to get back from the grocery store so we can finish making what we're supposed to be making for today. Then we're going to just be waiting around until we all get the urge to really move and drive down. I don't think any of us really want to go. Honestly, I think that we'd be happier just staying here and eating Chinese food for dinner. But that would never happen.

Mom and I laughed over the giant stickers of JC and Chris. Because yes. They're funny.

Have not yet informed her that TV is being horribly evil tomorrow night. I don't know how many other people have heard about this but at the same time the Nsync concert is on CBS, VH1 is doing a live U2 show. I'm so horribly torn. I want both of them. But of course, the U2 DVD comes out next week I believe so I could get that sooner than I can get the PopOddessy DVD.

I'm going to get visit with Mom and inform her of this.

Until later.

Happy Spanksgiving to all you American folks!

And just a happy day to everyone else! :)

Thanksgiving...

Wow am I drunk. There's nothing like a family function where you polish off two bottles of wine before you eat after not eating at all during the day. Probably had three all told. Me and Jer were hunched over the mashed potatoes eating out of the bowl. We giggled and laughed and poked each other with potato-y fingers. I love my cousin, Jeremy. I promise this was post-meal when the whole family was drunk and my dad was attempting to embarrass me about my sex life. Honest, normal family function conversation revolves around sex and alcohol consumption. We're normal. We really are.

Jeremy is an artist. He's going to be fantastic one day. He's going to go to the Negav and paint there, landscapes, beautiful paintings. Jeremy is going to be famous one day.

We watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles as a family. It was a fun-filled evening post eating, post finishing too much wine and chocolate and turkey. I wonder if I had a normal family what I would be like.

And apparently I was to be named Tara...

What would I have been like as a Tara? Like, what would my mom have been like had her name never been changed from Roberta to Robin.

My dad chased Micah around the house but I finally cornered him in the bathroom and tickled him. We're a team, me and Dad.

On the way home I was drunk and kept offering Britney music but the parents chose Elvis Costello. Better choice.

And no. My sister didn't choose to spend the day with the family. She and Drew showed up for about an hour and then left.

Our family is dysfunctional.

And I'm drunk.

I have the oddest desire to cry.

Only my Rowan friends will understand this...

I was talking to Deborah, an old friend of my aunt and uncle's, while at the Hebbel/Schweidel/Lewis/Moses Thanksgiving Spectacular (TM) today. She used to teach at Rowan when it was still Glassboro State. She was actually there the other day for Freshman Convocation.

She was telling me about an old friend of hers who still teaches there...

The former Dean Libro.

Small world, eh?

Deborah's going to Israel again on the 6th for two conferences. I hope she gets there safe and everything goes well while she's there.

I want to go to Israel.

And of course during the drunken 'what we are thankful' bit, we ended up toasting and saying L'chaim! Next year in Israel.

Wrong holiday, folks. :)

It made us all laugh.

I love my family.

And I apologize now for the multiple posts. There will be more. Oh yes. There will be more.
