For Karen...I hope these make you smile for some reason or other. And everyone should go cheer Karen up because she's upset. Make her happy!

I've returned. I know you're all thrilled.

The exhibition Karen and I went to was really awesome. The artist, photographer actually, Tseng Kwong Chi, was an incredibly interesting photographer. He did a serious called East Meets West where he, an Asian man dressed in a Mao suit, was pictured in front of many of the major US tourist sites, including this one:

Believe me, seeing it up close is much better. He also was good friends with Keith Haring and a good portion of the photographs included in the retrospective were of Haring working. That was really, really neat. Neat doesn't even cover it. I just suck with words.

This was also a kickoff event for PrideFest which is one of the biggest LGBT events in the country so his identity as a gay man was discussed. Bill T. Jones, a choreographer whom Chi was friends with was a study that he did in combination with Haring. Jones was painted by Haring and photographed by Chi. Jones was on hand along with Chi's sister and two of Haring's sisters as well. His speech was incredibly good. I was very, very glad that I went to this.

ALSO, by total chance, a friend of mine from way back, Elrey, was the first person I saw when Karen and I walked up the steps. I haven't seen him in approximately two years, since I really fell out of the Philly LGBTQ scene. And to top it off, he's Patrick's roommate now! So I have a current number and connection to Patrick. Elrey's choreographing and dancing in a new troupe called The Dream Theater which is performing on May 3rd at the Kimmel Center when MTV is being given the National Role Model Award by the Pridefest organizers. That was just so fucking cool running in to him. Whee!

Then Karen and I hit PJ's and had some dinner and drinks. Mmm...sour apple martini and a cheeseburger with bacon, mushrooms, and chedder cheese. So good. Plus, lots of talk with Karen. I've missed her lately.

But poo. On a down note, I lost the Nsync tickets. And to top it off, we were outbid by $5. That really hurts. But Dayse bid up to the limit I gave her and I love her for doing that for me. If she can get here, I will get us tickets. I promise.

Oh, and if anyone is interested in PrideFest America, check out their website. It's always lots of fun. I'm definitely going to be going this year. Again. :)
