So one of the coolest parts of last night was just Paul in general. Paul is a really fun guy. Sarcastic and just plain amusing. At Brielle's I got to talk Trek with him while he commandeered the TV and we watched a couple episodes of Classic Trek. Then, at Fridays, I got to argue with him about music while drunk. I love being able to do that and really, there's not a whole lot of people I can do that with who will actually listen to my ramblings about Bowie and Lou Reed. Paul brought in Iggy and then The Stones and it was just a great night. I even got to explain my extreme hatred for Bob Dylan's voice and not get too slaughtered at a table of Dylan fans.* I love nights where I end up feeling good at the end of it. Sometimes my brain actually works.

*I don't like Dylan's voice and it's tough for me to get past that but I freely admit that Dylan is probably the greatest lyricist of the 20th century. That's my stance and I'm sticking to it.

Dylan I can handle a little more than Janis Joplin's voice. Werg. Like fingernails on a board.

Doesn't mean I don't appreciate either of them and their musical contributions; I just don't want to hear those contributions.

I think I have the "bob dylan's voice is that of the devil... BUT he is a great lyricist!" fight weekly with all of my friends.

no one else understands the deep love I have for Bob Dylan. voice and all. its comforting to me. its not tuned and perfected. its his. it matches his personality. its changed so many different times. its worn in, used and loved!

I have much the same thing with Neil Young. Well, not the greatest lyricist of the 20th century part, but I do like his songs, I just never want to hear him singing them. Dylan, on the other hand, I unequivocally love, especially his voice, and hate to hear other people singing his songs, generally.

Bob Dyan is for pretentious college kids. THAT is MY story, and I'm sticking to THAT!
