*sigh*
so i've managed to kill my laptop. literally. a full glass of water tipped over on top of it and in the process of frantically drying it off managed to kill the power button.
everything is on there. i write on the laptop.
but hey. on the plus side, i've now been able to see inside of a laptop. it's...um...yeah. i have a hard drive i can hold in my hand now. the only problem is being able to access it.

I heard that you recovered a lot of your work, but *still*!
I've had the same laptop for 3 years, so when I got a new job last spring I bought a new computer. I was *so* excited as I had never bought a computer before (old laptop was a Christmas gift). A month later, after making 2 payments on it, I *dropped* it.
::whimper::
It didn't fall that far and was in a padded computer bag at the time, but the LCD screen still broke. A big star of cracks covers about 90% of the screen now. It's actually rather lovely. Looks sorta like a Georgia O'Keefe painting now. :) Luckily, the computer itself still works so I hooked it up to a monitor and now it sits on my desk at work and just stays there. :( I was *so* looking forward to writing my fic at home on the sweet, soft, new keyboard. I only got one story written on it before it had to become "official".
Arg. So, yeah, I can kinda feel your pain.
