Oct. 8th, 2004 04:46 amso i know by the time i jump on these little meme bandwagon's, people are all meme'd out and i don't get to play. but hey, it's almost 4:30 and i can't sleep again, so why not.
"...it might be cool to start a meme where you list all the first lines of your fics and then people write drabbles in the comments with the same first line."
i'm picking ten from each major fandom, but i won't put names if they're there. so knock yourself out. i'd love ficlets from any fandom you choose. :)
1. The knock on the front door startled [person a] from his reading.
2. A loud, familiar buzzing was heard, waking up the four of them.
3. The crowds seemed to part for them, creating a clear path for them to walk through the school.
4. [person a] and [person b] were dead, eyes open and unseeing as [person c] stared down at them in shock.
5. [person a] unlocked the door to his apartment, his body and mind still thrumming from the long build-up of tension over the past few days.
6. [person a] blinked sluggishly, her cheek pressed against the ground.
7. [person a] dropped his bags with a heavy thump on the pristine marble floor of his foyer.
8. [person a] dropped his dusty knapsack on the floor by his desk, grimacing at the pile of folders on his desk and the blinking light on the phone.
9. The house on Leicester Street came into view as [person a] turned the corner, his bag hitched over his left shoulder.
10. [person a] leaned his head against the dirty glass window of the cab, closing his eyes against the sight of New York in the rain.
11. To [person a], it was like inhaling through a filter, the air coarse and sterilized, something he wouldn't be caught dead breathing unless he'd been caught nearly dead.
12. [person a] loves the month that she gets to spend at [person b]'s during the summer.
13. [person a] drummed his fingers against the countertop as he waited for the young woman holding his car keys hostage to pay attention to him.
14. [person a]sat down on the moss-covered rock that served as a bench for the members of the faculty that still indulged in the long-abandoned habit of catching a fag between classes.
15. "It's my birthday."
16. Lord [person a] stepped out of the carriage, allowing his footman to take his hand and guide him down the small steps.
17. Light filtered into the room and [person a] rolled away from it, shielding his eyes with his hand, not wanting to move from his pleasant slumber back to his waking hell.
18. [person a] drinks scotch with the guys on the back deck, a cigar in delicate fingers while she laughs at one of [person b]'s jokes.
19. Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place was quiet save for a creepy house-elf muttering nasty things in a little cabinet in the boiler room and a solitary man up in one of the bedrooms.
20. "[person a] wants to learn about sex," said [person b] bluntly, looking around at the other three. "And I am not going to be the one to tell him about it."
21. "This is crazy," I say softly into the darkness of the bedroom.
22. [person a] woke slowly, cocooned by [person b] on his left and [person c] on his right.
23. [person a] idolized [person b].
24. You like to sit with your hands resting on your stomach, feeling the soft curve that signifies that you've had enough to eat the past few years.
25. The iron shackle that had once strapped [person a]'s broomstick to [person b]'s wall had a place of honour in their flat.
26. [person a] woke up slowly, the sound of the keyboard and the smell of coffee luring away from his restful slumber.
27. The bar was small and dark and hidden deep in the bowels of LA.
28. So one day [person a] looks around the [place/building/etc] and decides that it's time to walk away.
29. We were together a long time ago back when we both were silly little kids trying to figure out our lives and ourselves.
30. [person a] teaches [person b] to drive on a hot Saturday afternoon in July.
