Adventures in Grocery Shopping

It's kind of a family tradition to go out to dinner for whomever's birthday it might be. I chose Chili's this year because they have yummy margaritas. So Mom and I proceeded to be the lushes in the family and drank. ::does Chris air quotes:: A lot. Then as we're drunkenly making our way home with Dad driving and just barely putting up with us we remember that we have no cake! Now that can't be! So we make him stop at Acme and leave him in the car while we go in search of cake. We find the coffee first which we need and we kept dropping it trying to get it in the basket. I end up laughing on the ground as I go chasing after the creamer that rolled away. We get to the bakery section and pick up cookies but no cake. There was nothing striking my fancy. So we hit the frozen cake section and had problems. So many cakes that would go so well with the pot that will be smoked later. We hemmed and hawed and almost bought three pies and then decided only one. Peanut butter silk. And then ice cream! We couldn't forget the ice cream. So we grabbed vanilla and then as walking towards more cookies because we needed more cookies we saw something called Alpine Espresso ice cream and picked that up as well. Then Tastycakes.

So we're at the register and it's a slow night and literally we have 4 checkout people admiring our grocery choices. We laughed and one of the guys gave us peanut butter Oreos to try. Um. Yes. Those are fantastic.

We finally make it back to the car (oh about 20 minutes later. sure, we'll just be five minutes, dad) and he looks at us like we're insane. Nope. Not insane. Just drunk. Mmm...drunk.

I love my parents but especially my mom.

And now I am going to go partake in some birthday drugs and relax and watch TV and eat PIE! Woo! Pie!
