visionshadows: (sleepy!jc)
I got to school really f'ing early today so I'm tooling around in the computer lab at the moment. It won't last long because it's about three degrees in here tops and I'm already sniffling from allergies so yeah. Don't need a cold on top of it.

I woke up last night with a full scene in my head for the new little cute thing. I'm actually here to write it but that's not going to get done. I'll just write it out in class and type it up when I get home.

Moved fairly easily this morning. No residual stiffness or pain. Of course, on the ride to school, the fun right onto Nicholson made me wince and everytime I need to check my blindspot I gasp because ow. That hurts. I have to make it all six hours at work today. I have no choice. I must do it.

And now I'm going to take my cold little self and my warm, warm cup of coffee over to the next building and go sit through class. Three more to go. Dude, I'm so almost done. I can't wait.

[trots off]

Ta-ta for now!

Home. Sore. Ow.

I've decided that the chairs you have to sit in at school are tools of the Devil. Because I seriously was doing pretty okay but the chairs killed me. They're shaped so weird and you can never get good back support and the little half desk thing is just so frustrating. So yeah. Tools of the Devil.

I came up with a better topic, one that I'll actually have to do a little work to actually do well, for my final speech. Basically it's taking the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Middle East, showing the effects it's having in Europe and relating those effects back to similar events that occured in Germany pre-Holocaust. I can do this even as a complete idiot about political ramifications of events across the world.

Also, tomorrow is going to be Project Britney day. No more procrastination for me. I will get it done, at least the paper. The PowerPoint part isn't going to be hard. It's just making the video clips of BOMT, Stronger, and Slave that worry me. I've never done that before.

Now. Off to torture Chris and jaunt merrily around CNN.com.

I found about eight articles to support my speech topic without trying too hard. All I've got to do now is turn it into an outline and bring in the Holocaust aspects of it. If we're not too busy [crosses fingers] I might be able to do it tonight at work. Honestly, all that would make the difference is Charlie showing up tonight. If we have all our floor folks, I'll be just fine at register.

I feel really good. I'm awake and energetic and even though I'm not 100%, I am so much better than I was just yesterday. If I can hold on to this for just a couple of days, until Thursday really, I'll be fine. I'll be able to finish up this semester and get my work done. Though, I have pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I'll probably fail or at the very most get a D in Modern Art. Which I've never done before in college. I haven't done my final paper and I haven't been to class since um. Well, March probably. I don't think I went once and stayed the whole time in April. The worst part of it is that I can't really bring myself to care all that much.

[shrugs]

I've figured out a savings plan for when I start working near full-time again. Hopefully this will give me more than enough money for Canadia this summer as well as the fun little plan I have right now that involves housing and [coughs] Waryne. I feel like I should talk to Waryne about it soon since he's kind of integral to the plan*.

Random concert moment from April 18th: Joe Fatone Sr. saw and commented on the Fucking Timberlake shirt. He looked at me for a moment before talking.

Joe: Nice shirt. Very respectful.
Me: It's meant as a compliment.
Joe: Sure it is. [walks away]

Needless to say, I didn't get free tickets from him. Part of me wonders if he told Joey or even Justin. Hee. That would rock.

*Not to be confused with The Plan which involves Anna.

Am home.

Am tired.

Am hurting.

A lot.

"A lot."

I'm just exceptionally tired of being hurt. I really want this to be over with so I can get back to my life which doesn't include practically crying at work because I need to sit down so badly and I can't because we have too many customers and I'm the only cashier. I want to be better, dammit. I don't want to live like this.

I'm so bored of Angel these days. And Buffy too.

That really bothers me.

Eh. So bored.

BOWIE! MOBY! BUSTA!

And while I'm in Canadia tooooo! Eeeee!

Dude, four times in a week. I can SO do it. Yay!

Busta Rhymes and David Bowie are among the artists set to join Moby on the Area2 tour, the sample-lover's second foray into the world of eclectic summer outings.

The three-week trek is scheduled to begin July 28 in Bristow, Virginia, and cover Eastern seaboard stops before heading West, according to the event's publicist. The trek draws to a close August 16 in George, Washington, with Moby and co. visiting 12 North American cities in all.

Last year's Area:One was notable for its varied lineup, which included Outkast, the Roots, Incubus and Nelly Furtado (see "Moby: Beaming Into Area:One"). In choosing this year's roster, Moby employed a similar ideology, tapping Area:One vet Carl Cox; sample-happy Aussies the Avalanches; and turntable mavens John Digweed, DJ Tiesto, DJ Dan and Tim Skinner to join him. Additional artists are expected to be added, according to a tour spokesperson.

The chrome-domed musician isn't the first artist-turned-promoter to stage a tour of such diversity, and when MTV News caught up with him last, he made sure to give credit where credit was due.

"Lollapalooza was in large part my inspiration for putting the Area tour together," Moby said. "I had done Lollapalooza in '95, and I had such a good time, and I was so impressed with the ethos behind the tour. Sonic Youth were on the bill, and Cypress Hill and Pavement and Beck, and on the second stage you had some really, really interesting bands ... just that ethos of eclecticism and genuinely alternative music.

"When Lollapalooza ended, I felt that there was still a need for genuinely eclectic, interesting, alternative music festival, and that's one of the reasons why I tried to put Area together," he added, "but [it was] very much, in large part, inspired by the ethos of Lollapalooza."

Simply making good music doesn't guarantee an artist a slot on Area2, however. To pass Moby's muster, applicants must be able to walk the walk, as well as talk the talk ? or sing the song, as the case may be.

"There's a lot of musicians in the world whom I love and who put on very boring live shows, so obviously we don't want to have them involved in the tour," Moby explained. "So part of the criteria for picking people for the tour is that they have to make really interesting records [and] they have to be really eclectic, interesting musicians, but they also have to be able to put on a great show.

"I played a concert a few years ago. It was Sonic Youth, Busta Rhymes and myself, and I was so impressed with Busta Rhymes' performance that I really wanted him to be involved in Area. And David Bowie is my favorite musician of the 20th century," he continued. "I mean, he's an amazing live performer, and I can't think of a single musician from the 20th century who made as many remarkable albums as he did. Also, he influenced everybody. Without David Bowie, popular music as we know it pretty much wouldn't exist."

Both Moby and Bowie will be performing selections from their new offerings on Area2. Bowie's Heathen is set for release June 11 (see "Foos' Dave Grohl, Moby Are Bowie Buddies On New LP") while Moby's latest opus, 18, drops May 14 (see "Moby's Next Album Is Called 18, But What Does That Mean?).

Tickets for Area2 go on sale beginning May 3, though potential concertgoers can get first crack at tickets on May 1 and 2 through MTV2.com.

Area2 itinerary, according to the tour's publicist:

7/28 - Bristow, VA @ Nissan Pavilion
7/30 - Camden, NJ @ Tweeter Center at the Waterfront
7/31 - Holmdel, NJ @ PNC Bank Arts Center
