money, food, and a ficlet!
Apr. 15th, 2005 12:28 pmI got my tax refund! Yay! I also paid my NJ State tax today! Yay! At least I have the money in my account to cover it. I went grocery shopping and spent the extra money from my paycheck on lots and lots of food. We won't starve! Yay! Also, coupons are my friends and because of that I don't feel bad spending $200 on food. It would have been a lot more without the coupons.
I was mean and didn't open this icon/ficlet meme thing to everyone. Mostly I just told
dayse to pick an icon and I'll write a ficlet for her. If anyone else wants to play the game with me, my icons are [here]. We are so fully staffed tonight that I know I'm going to need distractions. So yes. Pick an icon and I'll ficlet for you! C'mon. You know you want to keep me occupied at work tonight. :)

Morning Coffee Rituals
Ray doesn’t exactly know when it starts, but he finds himself pouring two cups of coffee every morning. One’s got chocolate in it for himself; the other is plain and black for Dief. Fraser doesn’t agree with it, but he’s stopped arguing. Caffeine withdrawal is not pretty on a half-wolf.
They’re breakfast pals now. Ray, Fraser, and Dief. Mostly because Fraser and Dief sleep at his apartment now, Fraser in his bed and Dief on his couch.. Ray still doesn’t think breakfast should be anything more than coffee, but he eats what Fraser puts in front of him.
This morning they all ate eggs and biscuits that Fraser made the night before, using one of Ray’s glasses to cut the biscuits out of the dough. Ray watched him from the couch, Dief’s head pillowed on his thigh and a hockey game playing in the background.
Still though, Ray heads straight for the coffee pot when they get to the station, Dief hot on his heels. He can hear Fraser’s boots clicking on the linoleum behind him. Forgetting where he is, he pours a second cup of coffee and sets it on the ground for Dief.
Huey stares at him from across the room, a jelly doughnut halfway to his mouth. Dewey spills his orange juice on his suit and curses softly. Keller stops in the doorway, taking in the tableau.
Fraser clears his throat nervously, acutely aware of the fact everyone is watching Ray hold a coffee cup for Diefenbaker. Ray looks up from where he’s kneeling, realizes he’s in the station and meets Fraser’s gaze with a shrug.
Ray stays where he is and all day long there are rumors whispered over cups of coffee about Ray and Fraser’s half-wolf.
