I have much love for bands that people don't like at all. I'm talking mid/late 90s one hit wonder bands that I bought CDs of on a whim and fell in love with. For example, I adore New Radicals without shame. I think the songs are fantastic, the lyrics kick-ass, and the mystery that surrounds them to be fun. See. It's a band most people hate or have never heard of. The other one? Harvey Danger. I adore them to no end. Their first album, Where Have All the Merrymakers Gone?, is not a great album. It's such a first album because about 2/3 of it kicks ass and then the other 1/3 is just awful. But I still love it because of that 1/3 of the album that's horrible. It makes me sigh and think about how it's a first album and all. Plus, how can you not like a song called 'Woolly Muffler'(All I ever wanted to be was a woolly muffler wrapped around your naked neck/Double-wrap me when it's cold out)? Chrissy, shut your mouth right now. [grins]

Oh yeah. I really like Mono, Powerman 5k, and Moloko as well.

See. I have horrible taste in music. Or maybe all of you do and I'm the one who's actually in the know. These guys could have been great!

Um. Yeah. I'm going to go to class and pretend that I didn't just admit to liking this stuff.

[bops head to Mono]

And there are people who wondered why I fell in love with bad pop music. [shakes head] Yeah. Now you know that the bad taste has always been there.

Lemme tell ya a story about New Radicals. I saw them NYE 98, at the House of Blues in Chicago. I was smooshed against the stage, which I then used as a coaster for my beer. The singer drank from my beer. So I held onto it for a bit, but must have forgotten and put it back up on the stage. Then he took my beer. And put it on the drum riser. And I never saw it again. *sigh*

Fun show, though!

Moloko and Mono never heard of them. New Radicals, Harvey Danger and Powerman 5k I really liked the song I heard from each of them and if I had the money I would have bought the cds. Hey, to this day I want tons of CDs from different styles of music but alas I have to be selective about what I buy since the prices are outrageous. SJ
