1. I was thinking about my reading habits in regards to fandom. For the longest time, I was a monofandom person and until I stepped away from the fandom, I really didn't read outside of it. Or so I thought. I'm in a dry spell in the fandoms I'm currently reading in so without even thinking about it, I started to read The Sentinel. It's my backup fandom when I need something new to read. And since I only end up reading in it maybe twice a year for maybe two or three weeks, I've always got a ton of stuff to read. Even ones I've read before, I can reread because there's so much time between reading. So tonight I was thinking about how I actually *did* read outside of popslash on occasion. I read Sentinel fic. *shakes head* Somehow, The Sentinel is my default backup fandom. It'll never be a primary because I don't want to write in it, I get bored reading in it, and I can only watch so much of the show. Doesn't mean I won't buy the DVDs as soon as they're available though.

So does anyone else have a default backup fandom or am I just weird?

2. Milo has spent the last two days at my parents house and has developed a very bad habit of pissing on their kitchen and bathroom floors. And the worst part is that he's doing it so defiantly! They're right there when he does it. My mom watched him lift his leg and pee on her hamper today. *facepalm* I wish I knew why he was doing it. My sister recently got a dog and she brings her over my parents house all the time so I'm guessing he doesn't like to smell Hazel and is trying to drown her out. But omg stop peeing in my parents house! You need to go there when Chris is out of town.

3. I think I applied for ten jobs today. At least. I just went through listings and applied for everything I was qualified for and wouldn't want to stab myself in the head while doing it. I can't stay where I am. I'm so frustrated and unhappy and I want a normal job. I want to work during the day time. I'm not a kid anymore. I'm tired of working at night and never seeing anyone. Hell, I never see Chris. I'd like to see him.

4. I watched Brokeback Mountain last night. And it was a great movie. Heath Ledger was really good as was Jake Gyllanhall. Do I think it was groundbreaking and best picture worthy? At the risk of making myself unpopular, no. It's a great movie. But it's nothing new in my opinion. And I have to admit, the thirty seconds in Wilby Wonderful where Dan cups Duck's cheek was much more sensual and touching than the sex scenes in Brokeback. Though the scene where Ennis is retching in the alley after he and Jack first separate is a great moment. Don't get me wrong, I'll watch the movie again. I'll buy the movie and watch it when I need a good cry. I was very pleased with it. :)

5. I got the most adorable bag from [livejournal.com profile] viggorlijah today from the Riverkids Give and Get thing she did. It's so incredibly cute! I wish I had a camera to take a picture of it. I heart this bag. :D

6. For the first time ever, I had to contact the lab about an order. And Sara got back to me in like, an hour and was so friendly and sweet! Yet another reason why I love buying from BPAL. Great customer service.

7. I just ate frozen pizza in my bed with Milo while watching CSI. Life is good.

I'm loathe to admit it, but The Sentinel is also by "backup" fandom. Actually, I think of it as my "3rd place" fandom after Due South and SGA. I do love it, but I haven't devoured every fic like in my 1st two fandoms. It's nice, cos like you say, there's always fic to be read.

I'm in a weird place right now where I do have two fandoms that could be considered primary (dS and SGA) and two other fandoms that are backups (House and CSI), but none of them are interesting me right now so I'm reading Sentinel. *shrugs* I guess it's a testament to the fandom in a way that I can always come back to it.

It is! It's the most wonderful movie ever. It's by Dan McIvor, a Canadian director, and it's set around this small town in Nova Scotia where we see the intersecting lives of 6 people. There's also a scandal going on about the Wilby Watch where men went to have sex. Two of the main characters, Duck and Dan are involved in that. It's a really wonderful film! :)

You mentioned jobs, and that reminded me to check to see if the job in my department opened. It did.

Check out the link for the Administrative/Editorial Coordinator. You can totally do this job and the pay will probably be around $34K.

Backup fandoms? *laughs* I have a lot of fandoms I'm in involved. The most prominant is Harry Potter, Naruto, Prince of Tennis, Hikaru no Go, and more anime ones. Although I am beginning to dip my greedy little fingers into Battlestar Galactica and Final Fintasy 7/Advent Children. ^_______^

I've got four I can considered primary and secondary fandoms right now, but for some reason Sentinel is my default backup fandom. I can't entirely explain it, but it's nice to know it's there! :)

Interstingly enough, TS is one of my main backup fandoms. Now that I am not very active in them, HP and SV are the others. And periodically I dip my toes into HL and trawl Crack Van randomly.

It's just always there like the gay best friend who takes you out for coffee after a bad breakup and tells you everything will be okay and offers to slash his tires for you! :)

I must admit to finding BBM disappointing. It was incredibly well done, but I had no emotional connection with the characters. Whereas in WW I was totally invested.

I was very much looking forward to crying my eyes out. But nothing.

Yeah, I definitely felt much more emotionally invested with Wilby. But it might have been because they were more accessible characters. Ennis was purposely unemotional the majority of the time so it was hard to get a handle on him.

I did like the movie, but I'm definitely not as big a fan as other folks are. :)
