you know what i want?

a big, meaty piece of fanfiction to sink my teeth into. and by big and meaty - i mean something that takes chapter after chapter of angst, sex, and plot to get to the end. i miss that.

does anyone know of some?

i'll even take fandoms i don't read in.

but not bandslash. i'm sorry, but i just have no interest in that. (eta: or spn)

My next rec is meaty and sexy, if you are in a mood for Snarry.

I could do some Snarry. I do actually go back and read that every so often.

Thank you! :D

Pffft on you.

Megan and I broke out a good one in the elevator; she asked what I was doing tonight and I replied, "I'm going to...stalk [hand flourish]...Lenny and Carl...D'OH!!"

:D

But there are 50,000 word hooker AUs (okay fine, one)! And 30,000 word prequels of Clinic AU!

Otherwise I think you need to reread Hawks and Hands.

PS I can't remember if I ever said I got the BPAL stuff and the best card ever \o/ Thank you!

Dude. Don't even try - she won't budge. I'm taking her to the HCT tomorrow to convert her as revenge for making me see Nick Carter a few years ago! :D

I probably should have said not SPN either. Hehe. I guess I'm pickier than I thought I was going to be. *g*

You know, I *adore* Hawks and Hands, but I have a lot of trouble rereading it. Possibly because of the Dief parts. It just *kills* me.

And okay, I do love me some AUs so maaaaybe if I get desperate I'll let you point me in that direction. Plus if I let you do it, it'll make Chrissy mad. *g*

And yay! I'm glad it made it to you safely. :)

Wednesday Night Boys (Hooker AU!)

Home is a Name. (Clinic of Lurve AU)

Can honestly be read like original fiction with photo references.

Jon Walker, Ryan Ross, Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith

Mikey Way, Bob Bryar, Frank Iero, Ray Toro and Gerard Way

*cough* More where that came from and conveniently tagged!

Did I mention that Wednesday Night Boys is what got Dira into bandslash?

I think I could do RPS. I just haven't seen a lick of SPN and I kinda feel it's one I should see the show for. *g*

Go look in [livejournal.com profile] furiosity's memories. She has an older fic she wrote called Gryffindor and a Slytherin that is one of the greatest fics I have read. And she has a newer one too that she's still writing but it's on like chapter 20-something. Haven't read that one but I'm sure it's good. They're both Harry/Draco of course. :D

I'll check it out. I'm craving fic so much that I might even read Harry/Draco. *g* The only one I've ever read was Resonant's Transfigurations years ago when it first came out.

Do you read BtVS?

Barb Cummings - http://sleepingjaguars.com/buffy/ - A Raising in the Sun begins an epic of well-written, true-to-character plot twists and a reasonable helping of angst.

Chase & Mustang Sally - http://www.allaboutspike.com/fic.html?id=669 - Eldorado 1 is very angsty, sexy and twisty. It totally demands a sequel, but I haven't seen one yet.

I've got some other decent recs, but they tend toward the AU, are largely Spike!Centric, and if you don't already read in BtVS...

That's what I was going to ask! And then I was going to rec Buffy Season Noir. It's my standard meaty rec; I haven't read it in a couple of years, but I remember loving the writing.

I'm willing to try anything once (um, for the most part). I've read some Buffy fic, but not much. Also, AUs are seriously some of my best friends and Spike and I are buddies so feel free to post those as well. :)

Ha! There are some things I've pretty much decided I won't like w/out trying. ;) For a looong time, fanfic in general was on that list. Buffy was the first show that I got hooked on badly enough to want more stories when it wasn't airing. I still don't read in any other fandom.

In general, All About Spike has a good range of authors - pretty well screened. I consistently like Annie Sewell-Jennings (try The Last Summer longish and AU), Barb Cummings (A Raising in the Sun, Necessary Evils and A Parliament of Monsters are 3 novel length pieces that take place after canon S5), and Fallow Doe (though I can't remember my favourite titles). The authors at buggerthis.net (a small collective) are generally very readable 'though it's not all my cup of tea. From there, Herself has a lovely piece called Disenchantment that I catch myself rereading, and Kalima's Daemons Luminati.

A lot of Buffy sites are in complete disrepair since things went offair, I mean, completely offline. I kinda hate it because I can't find things anymore! :D

It looks like it stalled out around episode sixteen. Episode fifteen was finished in 2004, so I guess that was pretty much where she stopped being interested in it/having the drive to finish it. I visited Anna S's eljay and it seems like maybe she moved on to other fandoms.

No kidding! That's the problem with being involved in a fandom that's been off the air for a little while, entropy settles in pretty quickly when it comes to fic sites.

I used to visit the Writers Guild for consistently good recs, but I think they've been gone for a while. I used to beta on a Willow site that's been down forever, and I used to participate in Dingoes on the Prairie, which went kerplunk even before the show went off the air, I think.

Oh my god, I did a BPAL swap with Rebecca Carefoot on eljay and my mind almost imploded. That is a seriously geeky reference, but her stuff and Dare's stuff were the first Buffyfics I ever read (esp. loved the MST fics).

There are still a few of the knock-dead authors around, it's just hard to find them because the fandom isn't as glommed together as it used to be. I try to poke through their eljays sometimes but it seems weirdly intrusive as opposed to poking around a website.

Wow, that comment got long. Sorry! Obvs I am a huge-ass Buffy nerd to this day. :P
